With Cuts to education coming I don't foresee this problem going away anytime in the near future.  So if your child is heading to college soon and has an aptitude for math and science, I would highly recommend encouraging them to pursue a Computer Science degree from a good engineering school.  Our own Boise State has a very strong program.  If they graduate in four years, Balihoo will be here to hire them.
